Public holidays are common in every country and each country has its own specific public holidays. For example, Thanksgiving is a public holiday in the USA. In effect, a company needs to comply with the public holidays relevant to their particular country or they may face legal implications. Also, a company needs to configure the existing HR system to accommodate the public holidays relevant to the specific country. With OrangeHRM, a company can now easily add/remove holidays. It is possible to add repeating and non-repeating holidays for that particular country.
To access this feature go to Leave → Configure → Holidays. The "Holidays" screen is displayed as follows:
Step 1 – Click the "+" button. The "Add Holiday" screen is displayed.
Step 2 – Complete the following Fields.
| Field | Description |
| Name | Name of the holiday. |
| Date | Date and the month of the holiday. |
| Full-Day / Half Day | If the holiday is a full day or a half-day. |
| Repeats Annually | If the holiday reoccurs every year, this field needs to be enabled (the Christmas holiday is on the 25th of December every year). |
| Country | The country to which the holiday is applicable. |
| Location | City/State to which the holiday is applicable. |
Step 3 – Click "Save" after defining the Holidays.
Remove Holidays
Step 1 - Select the holiday(s) from the holiday list mentioned in the "Holidays" screen and delete by clicking the checkbox corresponding to the holiday you wish to remove.
Step 2 - Click the button on the top left corner of the list. Upon clicking this button the following pop-up menu is enabled.
Step 3 - From this pop-up menu select the "Delete Selected" Option. Upon clicking this option the selected holidays will be deleted.
Filter Holidays
Step 1 - Click the "Filter" button on the top right corner of the screen to filter the holiday list.
