This feature determines how disruptive an employee’s short and multiple leave spells could be to an organization’s performance.
It aims to highlight people over a 12-month rolling period, who have had many spells of absences rather than 1 long absence that might be quite legitimate E.g. Seasonal flu, Dengue fever, etc. It is looking for habitual absenteeism rather than just the number of Days. While most organizations do focus on medical leave, when it comes to Bradford Factor it is possible to calculate for any leave type.
The function is based on the researched formula by Bradford University, United Kingdom.
Bradford Factor = S x S x D
- S is the number of Spells of the absence of an individual over a given period; and
- D is the total number of days of absence of the individual over the same period
When a new leave type is created, it is possible to enable Bradford Factor for that Leave Type.
Bradford Factor Threshold
The Bradford Factor can have different thresholds. It is different for each company. The client’s threshold values can be defined as required. If an employee’s Bradford Factor value crosses a defined threshold point, an email notification will be sent. The receivers of the notification can be defined in Admin->Configurations->Email Subscriptions.
To add a threshold:
Step 1 – Select Leave>Configure>Bradford Factor Threshold from the Main Menu. Bradford Factor Threshold screen will appear.
Step 2 - Click the Add button.
Step 3 – Add the Threshold (Number) and give it a name. Click Save.
