Multi-factor authentication (MFA) refers to the process of improving the security of systems and accounts by requiring more than one form of verification to gain access. MFA involves the use of two or more independent credentials to verify a user’s identity for login or other transactions. This method adds additional layers of security, making it much harder for unauthorized users to gain access even if they have one of the required credentials. This additional security step is now available for OrangeHRM users to protect their personal and professional data.
To enable this feature, the System Admin has the capability to enable two-factor authentication for specific user accounts and make two-factor authentication required for selected user roles. System admins also have the ability to allow admins to reset the two-factor authentication for other user roles.
When the System Admin turns on two-factor authentication (2FA) for certain users, those users will need to set it up. They can choose to do it now or later. If they do it now, they'll be required to use an app such as Google Authenticator or Microsoft Authenticator. If 2FA is required, they can't skip this step. It helps keep their accounts safe.
