It is important for an organization to maintains its resources methodically for future reference. As part of resource management, it is important to know and record its vendors, categories, and brands of its assets. Knowing the vendors, categories and brands is useful in many ways:
- Asset warranties can be maintained and claimed timely.
- In case of an asset breakdown, knowing the vendor and the brand of that particular asset will help to get it repaired from exact vendors within a short period of time. This is highly relatable to computers and other hardware devices.
- It is also important to know the vendor and the brand if the company is planning to reorder an asset of a particular brand from a particular vendor in order to receive bulk discounts. This is relatable in ordering furniture,
There are many more advantages in tracking and maintaining details of the brands, categories, and vendors of assets. The OrangeHRM solution is fully capable of categorizing assets under each brand, category, and vendor. This feature benefits the company in many ways as explained above
Vendors
The Admin can define different vendors where different assets were purchased.
Go to More->Assets->Vendor. The ‘Vendor’ screen is displayed as follows.
Step 1 - Click the ‘Add Vendor’ button which is towards the left-hand corner of the screen. The ‘Add Vendor’ Screen is displayed as follows.
Step 2 - Complete the following fields
Field | Description |
ID | The ID is generated automatically. The user can change the ID if required. |
Name | The name of the category |
Step 3 - Click ‘Save’ to create a vendor.
Filter Vendors
The user can filter and search for any specific vendor/vendors from the ‘Vendor’ screen
Step 1 - Click the button on the top right corner of the ‘Vendor’ screen. The “Filter Vendors’ is displayed as follows.
Step 2 - Complete the available fields to narrow down the search.
Field | Description |
ID | Based on the ID of the vendor. |
Name | Based on the name of the vendor. |
Step 3 - Click ‘Search” to find the desired result /results based on the defined filtering criteria.
The user can also edit the information relating to any vendor by going to the ‘Vendor’ screen and clicking ‘ID No’ or ‘Vendor’ or ‘Contact No’ or the ‘Email’ of the previously created vendor.
Categories
The Admin can define the categories in which the company assets would be categorized under.
Go to More-> Assets->Categories. The “Categories” screen is displayed as follows.
Step 2 - Click the ‘Add’ button in the Screen. The Add Categories Screen appears.
Step 2 - Complete the following fields.

Step 3 – Click ‘Save’ to create a ‘Category’
Filter Categories
The user can filter and search for any specific category/categories from the ‘Category’ screen.
Step 1 - Click the button on the top right corner of the ‘Category’ screen. “Filter Categories’ screen is displayed as follows.
Step 2- Complete the available fields to narrow down the search.

Step 3 - Click ‘Search” to find the desired result/s based on the defined filtering criteria.
The user can also edit the information relating to any category by going to the ‘Categories’’ screen and clicking ‘ID’ or ‘Category’ or ‘Total ’ or the ‘Count’ of the previously created category. The ‘Edit Category’ screen is displayed as follows.
Step 4 - Click ‘Search” to find the desired result/results based on the defined filtering criteria.
The user can also edit the information relating to any category by going to the ‘Categories’’ screen and clicking ‘ID’ or ‘Category’ or ‘Total ’ or the ‘Count’ of the previously created category. The ‘Edit Category’ screen is displayed as follows.
Click ‘Save” after making the necessary changes
Brands
The Admin can define different brands for the company properties, for Example: LG, Samsung, Dell, HP, etc.
Go to More-> Assets->Brands. The ‘Brands’ screen is displayed as follows.
Step 2 - Click the ‘Add Brands’’ button which is towards the left-hand corner of the screen. The ‘Add Brand’ screen is displayed as follows.
Step 3 - Complete the following fields.

Filter Brands
The user can filter and search for any specific Brand/s from the ‘Brands’ screen.
