The Time module helps managing attendance (punch in/out) in one aspect. On another aspect it allows the employees of the company to log their time-sheets and let it proceed through an approval process on a weekly basis. These time-sheets are created based on activities assigned to projects created in the system.
System now provides ability to create common activities that could either be shared among projects or can standalone without a project. These common activities can be created under Activity Info.
Time >> Activity Info >> Common Activities
Common activities will not be attached to a particular project when created but can be assigned to a particular project when employees log time sheets. Also it can standalone as an activity without a project and employees can still log time sheets against it.

If common activities are used standalone Admin can exclude or include them in Timesheets CSV export report through below option

Also now the system provides the ability to copy time sheets from one period to another. Once copied you can add/remove projects/activities if they are not relevant to the week it is copied to.

Ex: XYZ is a Project based company in Information Technology industry. They do have a set of tasks that are commonly used in projects but also used standalone without a project. For example Training is one activity they do for customer projects. Also they do internal, partner and re-seller training. They would want to see employee’s time distributed among the project training and other training for a particular period.
This is an ideal situation customer can have a common activity for training and let employees log their time sheets against it. Employees can select the activity against the relevant project or log time without a project. This can improve efficiency in employees during data entry since no need of project selection for generic training. Also customer can obtain the time distribution for employees based on the project’s training time and including other types of training as displayed below.

On the other hand they also have projects that continue to have long term activities and employees work on same for months. Though they want to track these times also for employees they do not want employees to spend much time updating these time sheets as it is not their primary objective. So the company is seeking the possibility to ease the data entry operation for their employees in terms of time sheets.
This is an ideal situation employees can use the ‘Copy Activities’ option in time sheets to copy a past week’s project/activity and do the data entry without selecting the projects and activities again.. This ensures employees’ efficiency in terms of data entry.
