Companies are bound to go through many changes at various stages. The rate of change may vary from industry to industry as certain industries change at a rapid pace and others change at a slow pace. For example, the Software industry change at a rapid pace whereas the agriculture industry does not change at such a rapid pace. However, It is vital that a company adapt to the changes to have a competitive edge over its competitors.
A company may conduct massive changes within the company to adapt to the changes in the external environment and these changes will definitely impact all the employees or the majority of the employees. It is crucial to communicate changes to the employees effectively. However, the problem arises when a company needs to inform these large scale changes to a vast number of employees within a short period of time. With OrangeHRM, a company can now communicate changes to a vast number of employees within a very short period of time.
This feature allows updating employee details such as Work Shift, Location, Job Title, Sub Unit, Joined Date, and possible to add/remove direct supervisors through a bulk update. For example, if a company changes location then that change can be communicated to the employees via bulk update.
To access this feature go to: PIM -> Manage Data -> Bulk Update. The 'Bulk update' screen is displayed as follows.
Step 1: Complete the following search criteria to narrow down the search.

Select employees based on employee name. Multiple employees can be selected. |

The user can select employee statuses from the dropdown such as: Full - Time Contract, Full - Time Permanent, Part-Time Contract and etc. |
Supervisor Name |

Select employees based on the job title. |
Sub Unit |
Select employees based on the department |

The user can select the following options from the dropdown;

The user can select the following 'date of Permanency' options from the dropdown :

The user can select the following 'FTE' options from the dropdown :

Step 2: The user can select one or more fields from the below fields.
There are 13 fields the user can update in bulk and they are :
- Supervisor Name
- Sub Unit
- Probation End Date
- Temporary department
- Job Category
- Location
- Date of Permanency
- Employment Status
- Workshift
- Region
- Job Title
- Joined Date
- FTE
Step 3: After following step 1 and step 2 the user can click on either of the buttons.
Step 4: The user can click the 'UPDATE AS A BATCH' button. Upon clicking this button the following screen is shown.
This option allows the user to notify a change to a large number of employees.
Step 5: The user can define the fields that have been chosen as update fields previously. Also, the user can delete the chosen update field/fields by clicking button.
Optional: If the user wants additional fields apart from the defined update fields, the user can click button to 'Add New Field'. Upon clicking this button the following screen is triggered.
The user can select a 'Field to add' from the dropdown and click 'Add' to include it to the list of fields that are going to be updated.
Step 6: Click the ‘Update’ button after step 5 has been completed. Upon clicking the following screen is displayed.
Step 7: From the above screen the user can choose the 'Job Event' from the drop-down and choose the desired 'Effective Date'.
Step 8: Click 'YES, UPDATE'
Bulk Update Supervisors
If the supervisor has resigned from an organization and a new employee appointed as the supervisor, without going into each and every employee profile to update, we can simply update the supervisor via PIM bulk update.
Step 1 - Select the "Supervisor Name" from "Select Fields to Update" and click "Update as Batch".
Step 2 - Select the supervisor name form the dropdown and click "Update".

The system will enable custom fields(Other Job Details) to filter employees and/or to be bulk updated as well.
Custom fields that are defined using following types are only available
as filter fields
(i) Dropdown
(ii) Date
(iii) Checkboxes as Multi-select
(iv) Radio buttons as Dropdown
(v) Country as Dropdown
