The Shift Types configuration in the Roster module allows you to define the standard work schedules used for employee rostering. Here, you can create, manage, and search for different shift patterns such as morning, evening, or night shifts. Each shift type includes a defined start time, end time, and optional break period, ensuring consistency and clarity in schedule planning. This centralized setup streamlines the roster creation process and helps maintain accurate attendance and payroll tracking.
Step 01 - To configure roster shift types, navigate to the Roster module. Click on the dropdown menu located to the left of the "Configuration" tab, and select "Shift Types" from the list.
Step 02 - This will open the section where you can define and manage all the shift types. Click on the "Add Shift Type" button to add a new shift type.
Step 03 - To create a new shift type, click the "Add" button in the Shift Types configuration section. The "Add Shift Type" form will appear. Fill in the required fields:
- Shift Type Name*: Enter a descriptive name for the shift (e.g., "Morning Shift").
- Start Time*: Select the scheduled start time from the dropdown.
- End Time*: Select the scheduled end time from the dropdown.
- Duration*: The total length of the shift will be calculated automatically based on the start and end times.
- Set Break Start: To define a scheduled break within this shift type, use the "Set Break Start".
- Click into the field or the adjacent time selector. Choose the time at which the scheduled break period is intended to begin (e.g.,
12:00 PM). - This setting allows the system to automatically track or deduct the scheduled break period for shifts using this shift type.
This is an optional configuration. If no break is required for this shift type, leave this field empty.
- Shift Groups: (Optional) Select an existing shift group to categorize this shift.
Click "Save" to create the shift type.
Step 04 - To search for a specific shift type, enter the name in the search bar and click the Search button.
