When shifts are grouped by shift type on the roster, you can reassign a scheduled shift from one shift type to another within the same shift group by simply dragging it. This is useful when an employee's shift needs to change pattern, for example, moving someone from a morning shift type to an afternoon one, without deleting and recreating the shift. The shift's times and break update automatically to match the new shift type. This works in both the Weekly and Monthly roster views.
Step 01 - Navigate to the Roster module and open the schedule in the Monthly view. Locate the shift group that contains the shift you want to move.
Step 02 - Within that shift group, find the employee shift under its current shift type sub-header.
Step 03 - Drag the shift onto the target shift type's row within the same shift group, then release it.
Note: Moving a shift this way changes its start time, end time, and break to match the new shift type. If the shift previously had custom times, those will be replaced by the new shift type's defaults.
Step 04 - A confirmation message appears because the shift's start time, end time, and break will change to the defaults of the new shift type. Confirm to proceed. The shift moves under the new shift type, and its times update accordingly.
Note: Moving a shift this way changes its start time, end time, and break to match the new shift type. If the shift previously had custom times, those will be replaced by the new shift type's defaults.
Note: You can only drag a shift between shift types within the same shift group. To move a shift to a different shift group, open the shift and change its shift group instead, it cannot be dragged across shift groups.
