Your biometric device sends attendance data to OrangeHRM through the CAMS server. If your device is not made by CAMS (for example, a ZKTeco device), you need to point it to the CAMS server yourself. This guide shows how to connect the device to your network, turn off NTP, enter the CAMS server address and port, and turn on SSL so the data is sent securely.
Before you start
- Have the admin PIN or password for the device menu. Without it, the menu will not open.
- Use M/OK to open the Main Menu and select items, the arrow keys to move, and ESC to go back one level.
- Photograph each screen before and after you change it, so we can find any problem quickly. Menu names can differ slightly between device models and firmware versions.
- If your network has a firewall, ask your IT team to allow 2xapi.camsbiometrics.com on port 7506.
Step 1: Connect the device to your network
- Connect the device to your router with a network cable, or go to Main Menu > COMM. > WiFi and join your Wi-Fi network.
- Go to Main Menu > COMM. > Ethernet (or WiFi) and set DHCP to On.
- Press ESC until you are back on the start screen, and check that the network icon appears.

Example network settings screen

If the IP address shows 0.0.0.0 The device did not get an address from your network. Check the cable or Wi-Fi and your router. If your organization uses fixed IP addresses, turn DHCP off and make sure the device’s network settings match your other network devices. |
Step 2: Enter the CAMS server address and port
- Go to Main Menu > COMM. > Cloud Server Setting. On some devices, this screen is called ADMS Setup.
- Set each option as shown below. Select the option, press M/OK, change the value, and press M/OK again to save.
Setting |
Value |
|---|---|
| Enable Domain Name | On |
| Server Address | 2xapi.camsbiometrics.com |
Step 3: Turn on SSL (HTTPS)
- On the same Cloud Server Setting screen, select Enable SSL. On some firmware, it is called HTTPS.
- Set it to On and press M/OK to save. You do not need to change the port. The device switches to the HTTPS port by itself.
- Check that Server Address still shows 2xapi.camsbiometrics.com, then press ESC until you are back on the start screen. The device reconnects on its own.
|
If there is no Enable SSL or HTTPS option Your firmware does not support SSL, so attendance data would be sent without encryption. Contact your device vendor with the device model and firmware version. They may be able to add SSL support with a firmware update. If not, replace the device with one that supports SSL. Step 4: Turn off NTP
NTP lets the device take its time from an internet time server. Turn it off so the device time comes only from CAMS.
- Go to Main Menu > COMM. > Server.
- Select NTP, set it to Off, and press M/OK to save. Leave NTP Server and Sync Interval as they are.
- Press ESC to go back to the start screen.
|
If you cannot find the NTP row Check under Cloud Server Setting or Time Settings. Some devices do not have this setting. Send a photo of the screen, with your device model and firmware version, to OrangeHRM support. Full steps: Disabling NTP on Your Biometric Device |
Step 5: Check that the device is online
- Look at the connection icon on the start screen. It turns green when the device is connected to the server. On some models, a globe symbol appears instead.
- Wait five minutes, then compare the device clock with the actual time. They should match within a few seconds.
- Make a test punch. The device should show Verified with the correct time.
Connection icons on the start screen
|
Do not adjust the time on the device If the clock is wrong, do not change it by hand. Go to Main Menu > System > Date Time, take a photo, and send it to OrangeHRM support. |
You are done when
- The network icon shows on the start screen.
- NTP is Off.
- Server Address is 2xapi.camsbiometrics.com and Enable SSL is On.
- The connection icon shows that the device is online.
- The device clock matches your phone, and a test punch shows the correct time.
|
If the device does not come online Check that DHCP is On and the IP address is not 0.0.0.0, that Enable Domain Name is On and the Server Address is typed exactly as 2xapi.camsbiometrics.com, and that your firewall allows the device through. If it is still offline, send OrangeHRM support photos of the network and server settings screens, along with the device model and firmware version. |
